Charcoal Bedroom Overhaul

Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE bright, light, airy, and cozy rooms, and this has been the theme for the entirety of our home. When we started to overhaul the upstairs, however, I knew that I wanted to do something that was a little bit different than my usual color scheme of creamy whites and warm woods. I felt like with 4 windows, the natural light of this room could handle something a little more adventurous, so I decided to go out of my comfort zone with a charcoal paint color and bold, mustard yellow accents.

Country Guest Bedroom Retreat

When we decided to tackle the upstairs of our home, I had a vision and design of what I hoped to transform each space into; however, I quickly realized that these ideas I had were neglecting a lot of the furnishings that we already had. As I started thinking about it, I came to terms with the fact that I needed to be satisfied and content with what was already ours. Isn’t that a theme that we could manifest in other parts of our lives? Continue reading “Country Guest Bedroom Retreat”

Total kitchen transformation

The kitchen, in my opinion, is the heartbeat of the home. This is the place, where in our home, many laughs are shared and fun memories are created. When Braden and I first moved into our home, we knew that transforming the kitchen was more than about making the space aesthetically pleasing–it was more about creating an environment where everyone could gather and enjoy the presence of one another. With my vision and Braden’s know-how, we created a space that was once just a dream for us.

It’s a New Year

Happy New Year! I love the start of a brand new year. It’s the perfect time to take a step back, reflect on previous accomplishments and failures, and set forth goals and intentions for what is to come. We always hear that it’s never too late to start over, but there’s something so refreshing about focusing and honing in on ambitions at the very beginning of a whole new year.

Farmhouse Remodel: The Bathroom

As many of you all know, Braden and I have embarked on one of our most exciting adventures of remodeling and restoring an Italianate/Colonial farmhouse that was built in the 1860s. There is something so special and intricate about the details, labor, and thought that went into constructing homes during this time. Construction wasn’t exactly easy then, so I like to think that each detail was a true labor of love.

New Addition: Weddings!

Some say to crawl before you walk and walk before you run… which I get. But honestly, lately, I’ve felt called to run as fast as I can towards a calling and a passion, which has brought us to here. I am so excited to announce that Proffitt Design Co. will be adding a new element to the mix: wedding design! Braden, my incredibly talented mom, and I are beginning a new addition to our company with wedding decor and design. Everything from the florals, the tablescapes, the ceremony, the candles, you name it, we are doing it. We love love and the thought of having a hand in creating the most special day for clients is beyond exciting.  Continue reading “New Addition: Weddings!”

Styling a Mantel

Mantels, to me, take the center stage in almost every room where they are present. There is something so inviting about a mantel or fireplace that welcomes families and guests to gather. These beautiful architectural features should be more than just a wooden ledge collecting dust or picture frames; they should be the headliner, the core, and the heart of a room. There are several ways that we can shine the spotlight to create a space that is worthy of being a focal point.

Laundry Room Makeover

Jeff and Mary, my aunt and uncle, live in an absolutely breathtaking 1860s antebellum home. Every square inch of their property is a regal oasis, situated on over 100 acres of open land. It truly is a getaway that they get to come home to every day. Although the seemingly flawless farm house seems perfect in every way, our latest project was to redesign and reconfigure the one spot in their home that was slightly less than desirable: the added-on laundry room.
